Viruses and Worms
• ePrism employs Kaspersky® AntiVirus, winner
of the coveted Best Anti-Virus Solution award at the annual SC Magazine
Global Awards.
Threat: Spam
• Per-user White/Blacklists - Automatically accept/reject
messages from senders
• RBL Lookups - Real-time Blackhole Lists help block messages
from known spam sites
• Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC) - Mail users and
ISPs all over the world submit checksums of all messages received.
The database records how many of each message is submitted. If requested,
the DCC server can return a count of how many instances of a message
have been received. ePrism uses this count to determine the disposition
of a message.
• Heuristics - ePrism identifies telltale signs that a message
is spam. Certain words can be identified by administrators to spot
unwanted messages, too.
• Bayesian Analysis (Statistical Token Analysis or STA) -
a sophisticated method of identifying spam based on statistical
analysis of mail content. Simple text matches can lead to false
positives, because a word or phrase can have many meanings depending
on the context. STA provides a way to accurately measure how likely
any particular message is to be spam without having to specify every
word and phrase.
• Per-user Quarantine - used to redirect spam into a local
storage area for each individual user. Users will be able to connect
to ePrism to view and manage their own quarantined spam. Messages
can be deleted, or moved to the users' local mail folders.
Threat: Malformed Messages
• Detects malformed data packets which can be used
by viruses to avoid detection.
• Prevents Denial of Service attacks.
• ePrism ensures that only correctly formatted messages are
allowed into your mail systems.
Threat: Unauthorized Access
• All mail delivered to and from ePrism can be encrypted using
TLS (SSL).
• Hardened OS denies unauthorized access on the ePrism appliance.
ePrism is Common Criteria Certified EAL 4+.

• ePrism lets you control attachments by MIME type and extension.
• You can specify content controls for the body of any message.
