8e6 Pass-by Internet
Filtering and Reporting
Filtering technologies can be deployed as "pass-through"
or "pass-by." Pass-through solutions,
such as proxies, often slow down network traffic
and become a bottleneck or point of failure since
filtered traffic must pass through the proxy before
reaching the end-user.
In
contrast, with 8e6 Technologies' pass-by approach,
the R3000 Internet filter is installed outside
the flow of network traffic to 'watch' rather
than 'stop and check' Web site requests. If the
R3000 detects a request for a blocked site or
IM network, data is then prevented from returning
to the end-user.
